  • Latest update - June 30th - 20:52

WMC18 is a wrap, we're all finished with racing and freestyle and our queens and kings were crowned!
We'll have detailed results tomorrow, as for now, riders are heading to the dinner and after-party.

We did have a few injured riders, and so of course our thoughts are with them. The mountainboarding community is tight and we know everyone will take care of their friends.

Thank you everyone who worked so hard to make this happen, the organisers and all the volunteers. A big thank you to all the riders who made it here in Kranj, Slovenia and made this event so special. We can't wait to see you next year for the next WMC - location to be determined! But for now, the party is ON!

  • Update - June 29th - 12:00

Unfortunately we've been hit by rain this morning so we've delayed qualifying for now.

We sent a test run down the track just now but it's still too slippery so we are going to keep working on getting it dry.

Athlete safety is our priority so we'll only start the competition when it is safe. The sun is shining now so we don't think it'll be long 🤞

We premiered the videos for the 4 Down video contest last night during dinner at the hotel Bellevue and it was a success! All videos were very different from each other and you could tell they made people want to ride. Congrats to the athletes and filmmakers, mission accomplished!

  • Update - June 28th - 09:32

We had some rain overnight and the sky is looking grey but we think it'll really help the track. It was getting dusty and crumbly and this bit of rain will help to settle the dust and pull the track together.

The wind is strong so we're expecting the track to dry pretty quickly, then we'll be getting on with the last day of practice before the competition starts tomorrow!

    Matt

  • Update - June 27th - 19:48

Training officially starts tomorrow (Thursday) but more and more riders have been practising this afternoon and the track is looking gooood! As usual, it's getting faster, and though we expect some rain tomorrow, it will make for some fun races to watch.

A few athletes did some test runs on the freestyle, and again, as usual, it needs some adjustments (water drainage for example), but the important things are there: the jump setup is good and will allow for some big tricks!

    Mika

  • Update - June 27th - 09:14

Riders keep pouring into the Bellevue hotel which sits above the track further down the valley. The energy is building up!

The freestyle section still needs some work, which we're hoping to put in today. Stay tuned!

  • Update - June 26th - 22:05

A great day at the site - we are still recovering from the heavy downpours and storms over the weekend but we are definitely getting there, with the track rideable top to bottom at the end of the day.

The Dirt Dessert team have worked super hard over the last few months and their hard work has been well received by the athletes, all of them riding with giant smiles on their faces and thoroughly enjoying the track.

Tomorrow's plan is to get the Freestyle line working now that it's had time to dry out some more and fix the last few things on the BoarderX, then we'll be set for official practice on Thursday!

  • Update - June 26th - 15:33

Our lunchtime project is finished and the hip had been re-faced!

Quick break in the shade then back on to some more spade work 💪

Rumour has it, the President will arrive soon....

    Matt

  • Update - June 26th - 10:52

The Sun is shining and the weather is great!

The track is starting to dry out which makes it the perfect time to get a spade in your hand.

Our plan for the morning is to add some extra features for extra fun! They won't make the racing faster, but they'll make the practice runs extra fun!

    Matt

  • Update - June 25th - 23:55

The very first athletes are starting to show up, and it will soon look like the annual WMC gathering we've all come to love.
In the meantime, the rain this morning meant that the track was wet and athletes retreated to Kranj's pumptrack.

The track is looking great by the way! The Dirt Dessert team has put in a ton of work (and not just on the track, but also the surrounding areas), and we're looking forward to the event!
We'll be putting finishing touches over the next couple of days, and then it's on!

The forecast does call for some rain showers until Thursday, but has us in the clear with nice weather and high temperatures for the actual competition!

If you're coming, bring bug spray (watch out for mosquitoes and ticks!) as well as sunscreen! See you soon!
